First, the thing that trips up buyers moving here: Fremont Unified spent decades running junior high schools, with sixth grade staying in elementary. The district finished converting to a standard grades 6 to 8 middle school setup in fall 2023. The old names stick around anyway. GreatSchools URLs still say "junior high," and so do some signs, listing sheets, and long-time residents. If you see "junior high" in a listing, it means the same campus.

Assignment follows the address. An attendance area in Fremont Unified bundles one high school, one middle school, and several elementary schools. Your child's school is determined by the property address, not by the neighborhood name in the marketing. Boundaries also shift over time as enrollment and housing change. Before you write an offer, run the exact address through the district's School Locator, and if the school is a deciding factor, call Student Support Services and confirm in writing. A school named in an MLS listing is not a guarantee.
What a rating actually measures. The gap between a 9 and an 8 here is small, and both sit above the state average. GreatSchools ratings lean heavily on standardized test results, and across California those results track household income closely. So a rating tells you a good deal about who enrolls and comparatively little about what a Tuesday feels like. Parent review averages on these five range from roughly 2.9 to 4.5 stars, which is a wider spread than the ratings suggest.
If middle school matters to your search, tour the campus, ask about math placement and how eighth graders are supported into high school, and talk to people already enrolled there. Then decide which address you want.
